On 10th April of 1940 (Easter Sunday) the "SCHOLA
CANTORUM DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL CORO", now known as "Koruko
Ama Birjinaren "ESKOLA", grave it's performance. The debut took
place in the Parish of Santa Maríparish church, at the feet of the
town pareness "Virgen del Coro", interpreting the "Refice"mass.
Between 1945 and 1950, the "ESTAMPAS DE NAVIDAD",
"ESTAMPAS DE LA PASION" and "ESTAMPAS EUCARISTICAS"
were performed, and more than 200 people took part like interpretes, choir,
actors, ballet and orchestra. These performances were so succesfull that
they were also shown in the principal cities of the spanish state. It was
after this performances that the mixed dance group is formed.
"ESKOLA" debuted at the state level José
Olaizola's basque opera "OLESKARI ZAHARRA", in January
of 1956, the "Song of the Forest" of Demitri Schostakovic
on 5th of January of 1961, and "CATULI CARMINA"
of Carl Orff, on the 13th of July of 1962.
Today's "ESKOLA" is formed by a mixed choir
of 60 voices, a dance group with 60 dancers and 12 musicians, and a children's
dance school with more than 100 students, cradle of the apprenticeship of
our folklore.
Although the majority of our performances are been given inside
the Basque Country, also we have shown our folklore in different artistic
tours through Europe and America.
ESKOLA through its history has received prizes
and acknowledgements throughout the different countries where its members
have performed.
